SUMMARY:Genomic and developmental drivers of color pattern diversification
  - Claudius Kratochwil\, University of Helsinki

DTEND:20211026T130000Z

CONTACT:Dr Emily Mitchell
DESCRIPTION:Coloration plays key roles in fundamental physiological\, ecol
ogical\, and evolutionary processes. In my research\, I study coloration p
henotypes to gain an integrative understanding of how genetic\, developmen
tal\, and cellular changes lead to evolutionary diversification. Cichlid f
ishes\, as a famous example of explosive adaptive radiation\, are an excel
lent model system for understanding the genetic and molecular underpinning
of this process. Specifically\, I will discuss the role of genomic archit
ecture and regulatory evolution for diversifying and convergent evolution\
, as well as how genomic features affect speciation.
LOCATION:Large Lecture Theatre\, Department of Zoology but also online (as
 k organizers for link).
