DESCRIPTION:In 2001\, Yu gave an algebraic construction of supercuspidal r
 epresentations of p-adic groups (now known to be exhaustive when the resid
 ual characteristic is sufficiently large---Kim\, Fintzen). There has since
  been a lot of progress towards explicitly constructing the local Langland
 s correspondence: Kazhdan-Varshavsky and DeBacker-Reeder (depth zero)\, Re
 eder and DeBacker-Spice (toral)\, and Kaletha (regular supercuspidals). In
  this talk\, we present recent and ongoing work investigating a geometric 
 counterpart to this story. This is based on joint work with Alexander Ivan
 ov and joint work with Masao Oi.
