DESCRIPTION:An improved Digital Image Cross Correlation algorithm (DICC) i
 s used with Digital Speckle Radiography (DSR) to investigate the behaviour
  of granular materials during penetration by long rod projectiles\, at dyn
 amic and effectively quasi-static rates.  Some further experiments on the 
 behaviour of granular materials during compaction are briefly discussed.
