 /84072936265?pwd=VmUyTVZUTTMzaWJob1IycjRiTGM3QT09\n\nThe Cambridge Psyched
elic Society is so excited to host Dr. David Luke!\n\nIn the current psych
edelic research renaissance pioneering work is making great headway in cla
rifying the clinical benefits of psychedelics in dealing with the current
mental health crisis\, and in starting to identify some of the neural corr
elates of the psychedelic experience. However\, such research regularly wo
rks with restricted populations and strives for homogenous samples that fi
lter out non-neuronormal subgroups or ignores subjective experiences beyon
d the standard measures. Exploring anomalies can often reveal a great deal
about assumed generalities and psychedelic experiences are no exception.
In an attempt to find exceptions that disprove the rules this talk will ex
plore some of the little research conducted on less typical conditions and
  experiences\, such as synaesthesia\, aphantasia\, congenital blindness\,
autism\, HPPD\, and a raft of exceptional experiences such as precognition
 \, out-of-body experiences\, near-death experiences\, extra-dimensional vi
sual percepts\, entity encounters\, possession experiences and maybe more.
\n\nDr David Luke is Associate Professor of Psychology at the University o
f Greenwich\, UK\, where he has been teaching an undergraduate course on t
he Psychology of Exceptional Human Experience since 2009\, and he is also
Honorary Senior Lecturer at the Centre for Psychedelic Research\, Imperial
College London\, and Lecturer on the MSc Consciousness\, Spirituality and
Transpersonal Psychology for Alef Trust and Liverpool John Moores Univers
ity. His research focuses on transpersonal experiences\, anomalous phenome
na and altered states of consciousness\, especially via psychedelics\, hav
ing published more than 100 academic papers in this area\, including ten b
ooks\, most recently Otherworlds: Psychedelics and Exceptional Human Exper
ience (2nd ed.\, 2019). When he is not running clinical drug trials with L
SD\, conducting DMT field experiments or observing apparent weather contro
l with Mexican shamans he directs the Ecology\, Cosmos and Consciousness s
alon at the Institute of Ecotechnics\, London\, and is a cofounder and dir
ector of Breaking Convention: International Conference on Psychedelic Cons
ciousness. He has given over 300 invited public lectures and conference pr
esentations\; won teaching\, research and writing awards\; organised numer
 ous festivals\, conferences\, symposia\, seminars\, retreats\, expeditions
\, pagan cabarets and pilgrimages\; and has studied techniques of consciou
sness alteration from South America to India\, from the perspective of sci
entists\, shamans and Shivaites. He lives life on the edge\, of Sussex. \n
\nThe Cambridge Psychedelic Society was started last year as a platform to
encourage discussion and education about psychedelic substances\, their u
 se in medicine\, as well as their cultural\, legal\, philosophical\, and a
rtistic impacts. Everyone welcome. Advertising or soliciting illegal drugs
