DESCRIPTION:*The seminar will take place via vidyo "here":http

l is: https://indico.cern.ch/event/978127/.*\n\nAb
stract: One of the major challenges in computing h
igher-order corrections of collider observables is
the treatment of infrared singularities. Local Un
itarity is a novel representation of differential
scattering cross-sections that locally realises th
e direct cancellation of infrared singularities ex
hibited by its so-called real-emission and virtual
degrees of freedom. We take advantage of the Loop
-Tree Duality representation of each individual fo
rward-scattering diagram and we prove that the ens
uing expression is locally free of infrared diverg
ences\, applies at any perturbative order and for
any process without initial-state collinear singul
arities. Our representation is especially suited f
or a numerical implementation and we demonstrate i
ts practical potential by computing fully numerica
lly and without any IR counterterm the next-to-lea
ding order accurate differential cross-section for
the process e+ e− -> d d. We also show first resu
lts beyond next-to-leading order by computing inte
rference terms part of the N4LO-accurate inclusive
cross-section of a 1 -> 2 + X scalar scattering p
rocess.
