## Visualizing IQR with box-and-whisker plots

The interquartile range can be interesting to know when we're interested in how much our data varies. For example, the mean of 15, 16, and 17 is 16. If we say that the mean is 16, that doesn't tell us a lot about how many data points there were nor how much they varied. The following data set also has a mean of 16, but it is more varied:
