SUMMARY:The biology of CNS progenitor ageing - Professor Robin Franklin\;

DESCRIPTION:This talk will introduce the biology of the most abundant form
 s of stem/progenitor cell in the adult CNS - the OPC\, its involvement in
 regeneration and adaptive learning\, and its central role in why both thes
 e functions decline with aging. Published and unpublished data will be pre
 sented on how the age-state of the OPC is determined in very large part by
  extrinsic factors\, primarily the mechanical features of the niche\, and
 how the reprograming factor myc acts as a key regulator of age state.
