DESCRIPTION:The Paper will be devoted to a twelfth-century map of Jerusale
m which constitutes the earliest surviving English example of a set of med
ieval maps of the city. As far as I am aware\, this map has not been publ
ished or analysed as yet. The paper will address questions of origin and
date\, it will discuss how it relates to other maps\, and the extent to wh
ich its design and inscriptions are unique. Particular attention will be
given to the manuscript context in which it appears.
