DESCRIPTION:‘Memory and Masculinity in the Work of Ocean Vuong’. This 
 project is examining Ocean Vuong’s poetry collection Night Sky with Exit
  Wounds and novel On Earth We’re Briefly Gorgeous\, focusing on the dial
 ogue between the aesthetics of memory Vuong figures in each and prevailing
  conceptions of contemporary American masculinity. Vuong’s aesthetics en
 courage the reader to notice the peculiarities in what is presumed ‘norm
 al’ for a man in 21st century America\, uncovering the violence and excl
 usion bound up within that notion.
