DESCRIPTION:Africa figures prominently in the global trend towards the enf
ranchisement of its nationals abroad. However\, very few studies have been
devoted to this new “frontier” of citizenship in the African context.
This presentation deals with the causes and impact of the electoral enfra
nchisement of African diasporas\, the struggles and debates around long di
stance voting. How “global” are African elections? What role do diaspo
ras play in home country elections? What analytical leverage can we gain f
rom studying African elections from abroad? The presentation will answer t
hese questions through the case of the vote of the Senegalese diaspora.
