DESCRIPTION:Blood production during foetal development involve
s separate waves of \nmigration of rare stem cells
  among different organs\, including aorta\, \nlive
r and bones. It is still unclear how human foetal
blood stem cells \narise\, expand and differentiat
e in the more than ten cell types that \ncarry out
vital body functions such as carrying oxygen\, cl
otting and \nfighting infections. In my research\,
  I utilise a variety of \ntechnologies\, including
  single-cell RNA sequencing\, whole genome \nseque
ncing and cell-culture assays\, to characterise fo
etal blood \nprogenitors and to understand how ste
m cells colonise the different \norgans during dev
elopment. Uncovering the dynamics of blood product
ion \nin foetal development has both biological an
d translational \nimplications. Foetal stem cells
have a higher regenerative potential \nthan their
adult counterparts and studying them could provide
important \ninsights on how we can mimic these pr
operties in the production of blood \nstem cells e
 x-vivo for regenerative medicine purposes.
