DESCRIPTION:The presentation will explore different approaches to modellin
g the spatial patterns of urban growth in Europe. Models include spatial-s
tatistical models driven by changes in economic development and population
growth\, as well as models based on residential choice behaviour. The cho
ice modelling applies agent-based modelling methods that are empirically g
rounded with statistical data on household composition and location prefer
ences. The modelling will be presented within the context of the implicati
ons for spatial planning policy and the impact of urban growth.
