DESCRIPTION:In this talk\, I&#39\;ll present some recent resul
ts on reconstruction of optical vector-fields usin
g measurements acquired by an optical fibre charac
terised by a non-unitary integral transform with a
 n unknown spatially-variant kernel. A new imaging
framework will be introduced\, which through regul
arisation is able to recover an optical vector-fie
ld with respect to an arbitrary representation sys
tem potentially different from the one used for fi
bre calibration. In particular\, this enables the
recovery of an optical vector-field with respect t
o a Fourier basis\, which is shown to yield indica
tive features of increased scattering associated w
ith tissue abnormalities. The effectiveness of thi
s framework is demonstrated using biological tissu
e samples in an experimental setting where measure
ments are acquired by a fibre endoscope\, and it i
s observed that indeed the recovered Fourier coeff
icients are useful in distinguishing healthy tissu
es from lesions in early stages of cancer. If time
permits\, I&#39\;ll also briefly present a new me
thod that enables recovery of non-unitary fibre tr
ansmission matrices necessary for minimally invasi
ve optical imaging in inaccessible areas of the bo
 dy.
