DESCRIPTION:This<br>  talk will introduce the mathematical and statistical
  questions associated<br>  with running a capacity market. It will then su
 mmarise recent research on the<br>  modelling of demand and wind generatio
 n for capacity adequacy risk assessment<br>  in Great Britain\, and on dec
 ision criteria for determining the volume to<br>  procure. Finally\, it wi
 ll describe a new theory of how to run a capacity<br>  auction including a
 ll resources including storage on a common basis. All<br>  these topics wi
 ll be illustrated using examples based on the GB system.
