DESCRIPTION:Cultural Management goes beyond the technical studies in manag
 ement. It is an act of cultural mediation that touches on issues such as p
 rofessional ethics\, cultural rights\, cultural identity\, and the social\
 , political interferences in cultural representation. In the last two deca
 des\, Arts Education is gaining prominence in both Singapore and Hong Kong
 . Cultural policies of these two global cities have continually stressed o
 n the importance of arts education in instilling creativity\, confidence\,
  cultural awareness\, and social cohesion. Arts Education is also deemed a
 s an important process for building future arts audience. \nThis sharing w
 ill explore the current state of Arts Education in these two cities\, from
  the perspective of Cultural Management.\n\nBenny Lim is currently an Assi
 stant Professor and Associate Director of the M.A. in Cultural Management 
 programme at the Department of Cultural and Religious Studies\, The Chines
 e University of Hong Kong. Prior to his current appointment\, he has taugh
 t in several institutions of higher education in Singapore as well as in M
 alaysia\, where he founded KDU University College's School of Communicatio
 n and Creative Arts. Since 2001\, Benny has produced and managed over seve
 nty arts events\, including drama productions and arts festivals. Between 
 2005 and 2009\, he initiated a series of drama education programmes in Sin
 gapore\, reaching out to over 200\,000 Primary and Secondary schools' stud
 ents.\n
