DESCRIPTION:Continuously varying optimization programs have ap
peared as a natural extension of time-invariant on
es when the cost function\, the constraints\, or b
oth\, depend on a time parameter and change contin
uously in time. This setting captures relevant con
trol\, signal processing\, and machine learning pr
oblems. Recently\, running and prediction-correcti
on methods have been put forward to set up iterati
ve algorithms that sample the continuously-varying
optimization program at discrete time steps track
the optimizer(s) trajectory while it evolves in t
ime up to an asymptotical error bound.In this talk
\, we will review current state-of-the-art algorit
hms in time-varying optimization\, with a special
emphasis on applications in power grids. We will t
ouch upon time-varying AC optimal power flow probl
ems\, real-time optimization of aggregations of di
stributed energy resources\, as well as dynamic di
stribution state estimation.
