DESCRIPTION:Improvisation has been explained as an activity that is create
 d spontaneously\, without preparation\, in the moment. It can be enacted a
 s an expression of original ideas and feelings\, the reiteration\, applica
 tion\, exploration and transformation of existing ideas\, or the synthesis
  of disparate ideas. The ideas and feelings expressed are influenced by pr
 econditions such as uniqueness\, context\, motivation\, and intended outco
 mes. In this seminar\, we will discuss a framework for conceptualizing imp
 rovisation study intended to broaden our understandings\, inform our resea
 rch methodology\, and deepen our analysis and interpretation of collected 
 data.\n\nA former public school choral director\, *Dr. Leila Heil* current
 ly serves as Associate Professor of Music Education at the University of C
 olorado Boulder\, USA. \n
