DESCRIPTION:This talk presents a particle-mesh strategy for advection-domi
 nated problems which provides diffusion-free advection\, conserves mass lo
 cally (i.e. cellwise) and exhibits optimal convergence on arbitrary polyhe
 dral meshes.  This is achieved by expressing the convective fields natural
 ly located on the Lagrangian particles as a mesh quantity by formulating a
  dedicated particle-mesh projection based on a PDE-constrained optimizatio
 n problem.  The attractive properties of the scheme are demonstrated for a
  number of benchmark tests\, and the scheme is applied to mass conservativ
 e density tracking in multiphase flows. \n
