DESCRIPTION:Grand unified theories and many other quantum field theories p
redict the existence of stable magnetic monopoles or other topological sol
itons. They are usually studied at classical level\, and quantum correctio
ns are only known in supersymmetric theories or at leading order in pertur
bation theory in simple toy models. I show how masses and certain other pr
operties of quantum solitons can be calculated fully non-perturbatively us
ing lattice Monte Carlo simulations and present results for 't Hooft-Polya
kov monopoles in SU(2) theory. I will also discuss possible uses of this t
o understand confinement and other non-perturbative properties of gauge fi
 eld theories.\n
