DESCRIPTION:The use of personal data is of enormous global concern.  The D
 igital Person symposium is an annual event organised by the HAT Community 
 Foundation and Wolfson College Cambridge that discusses personal data from
  three perspectives: (1) digital personhood\, law\, freedom and democracy 
 (2) value\, economics and markets and (3) data analytics\, data science an
 d technology.  Aside from creating a unique environment for a robust discu
 ssion that is relevant and important\, the symposium will also produce an 
 annual white paper on the state of the digital person in a connected and d
 igital society. Symposium participants are drawn from industry captains\, 
 policymakers\, government representatives\, combined with thought leaders 
 from the sciences\, humanities and social sciences with discussions relati
 ng to law\, computer science\, history\, sociology\, entrepreneurship\, bu
 siness\, economics  and the global society. The symposium is chaired by 3 
 eminent professors in the field\, Professors John Naughton\, Jon Crowcroft
  and Irene Ng. This unique cross-disciplinary symposium is organised joint
 ly by Wolfson College Cambridge and the HAT Community Foundation.\n\nSEGME
 NT 1: PERSONAL DATA: DIGITAL PERSONHOOD\, FREEDOM AND DEMOCRACY\nThis segm
 ent would discuss the following: \n\n- expression of digital identity\, cu
 rating personal\, digital narratives and memories\; \n- proxies of digital
  self\, digital and physical world connections\;\n- online identities and 
 understanding how individuals and society interact digitally\;\n- privacy\
 , security\, access rights\, regulation\;\n- law\, democracy\, and rights.
  This segment is chaired by Professor John Naughton\, FRSA and would be fr
 om 9.30am - 11am\n\nSEGMENT 2 : PERSONAL DATA: VALUE\, ECONOMICS AND MARKE
 TS\nThis segment would discuss the following:\n\n- personal data as an ass
 et class\; economic value chains of personal data\;\n- economic and busine
 ss models of personal data\; \n- exchange mechanisms\, transactions\;\n- m
 onetization\, dataification\, digitization. This segment is chaired by Pro
 fessor Irene Ng and would be from 11.15am - 1.15pm\n\nSEGMENT 3: PERSONAL 
 DATA:  DATA ANALYTICS\, DATA SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY\nThis segment would di
 scuss the following:\n\n- personal data creation\;\n- schemas\, analytics\
 , private analytics\;\n- machine learning algorithms\, AI\;\n- security\, 
 privacy\;\n- technology and IoT. This segment is chaired by Professor Jon 
 Crowcroft\, FRS and would be from 2.15pm - 4pm\n\nSEGMENT 4: OPEN DISCUSSI
