DESCRIPTION:In this talk\, I will explain how uncertainty quan
tification methodologies are playing a vital role
at Schlumberger Cambridge Research for the moderni
zation\, increased safety and efficiency in drilli
ng oil and gas wells. There are intrinsic uncertai
nties while drilling a well which carry risks with
significant economic and HSE impact. I will prese
nt some solutions based on techniques such as sequ
ential Monte Carlo\, Bayesian networks and Gaussia
n processes which we developed for the prevention
and mitigation of some risks as well as enabling a
utomation.
