DESCRIPTION:The overlayers formed by chiral molecules on achir
al single-crystal surfaces can provide fundamental
insight about\, amongst other things\, the action
of chiral modifiers in enantioselective heterogen
eous catalysis. In this talk\, I will consider th
e factors that influence the chirality at differen
t length-scales of amino acid overlayers on the st
ructurally similar Cu{110} and Cu{311} surfaces.
Experimental data from a range of techniques\, inc
 luding RAIRS\, LEED\, and STM\, will be presented\
, and I will discuss our attempts to rationalise t
he data using density functional theory.
