 an has undergraduate and Master’s degrees from MIT and did her graduate 
 work in Theoretical Astrophysics at the Institute of Astronomy in Cambridg
 e. She was the first woman in Astrophysics to be elected a Fellow of Trini
 ty. Her research in cosmology comprises using gravitational lensing to map
  and probe dark matter in the universe\; and black hole physics focusing o
 n the formation and fuelling of supermassive black holes. The recipient of
  many awards and honours for her work\, she is also deeply invested in the
  public dissemination of science and the scientific process.\n
