A new light on the biosciences
- 👤 Speaker: Kishan Dholakia, School of Physics and Astronomy, University of St Andrews, Scotland
- 📅 Date & Time: Friday 11 May 2007, 15:30 - 16:30
- 📍 Venue: IRC in Superconductivity Seminar room
Abstract
In this talk I will describe how light may be used to perform a range of tasks at the cellular level. In particular I will show how we may move and sort cells with light. Additionally we can use light to permit foreign DNA or other therapeutic agents to enter cells. Light may also be used to guide the growth of neuronal cells – the mechanism remains elusive but progress towards its understanding will be shown.
Series This talk is part of the Nanoscience Centre Seminar Series series.
