Unikernels are a new way of creating software for the modern cloud and word of their benefits is beginning to spread, especially around security and portability. Recently, they’ve also achieved some commercial recognition as an early unikernel-based company, spun out from the University, was acquired by a US-based company.
This talk will present a brief overview of how cloud computing looks today and how we got here. Then we’ll cover the basics of unikernels and some of the implementations that are available to use today before looking at some specific demos. Then we’ll cover what the next steps look like for wider adoption of this new technology.
