Abstract
Unusual Suspects: Football fans and medical revolutionaries
The Arab Spring uprisings rocked the political landscape of the Middle East. Players we did not associate with politics before turned out to be of crucial importance to the success of the protests. James Montague, author and sports journalist, will talk about the rise of football fans as a political force and Sophie Roborgh, POLIS PhD candidate, will show how doctors evolved into medical revolutionaries. Dr Hazem Kandil, Department of Sociology, provides an introduction.
