Abstract
I will review certain random loop models that are closely related to quantum spin systems, such as the Heisenberg model. The former are mathematically elegant, and the latter are important to condensed matter physics. As it turns out, some properties are visible in one setting but not the other. I will describe several rigorous results, and many conjectures and open questions.
