A friendly discussion about the prospects of Smart metering hosted by Prof David MacKay and Dr Michael Pollitt. Dr Pollitt is Reader in Business Economics and Assistant Director of the Electricity Policy Research Group at the Judge Business School.

They encourage efficient use of energy within the household, allow the accomodation of higher levels of renewable energy and improve energy security. However will the costs of rolling these meters out to every household really be justified by the likely benefits?
