Abstract
Based in the UK’s leading cardiology hospital, PlaqueTec is a start-up within the Cambridge Biotechnology cluster. PlaqueTec’s novel device measures intracoronary biomarker gradients in a manner that negates patient to patient variation. For the first time, this offers the potential to gather actionable data for surrogate end points, and potential new druggable targets for atherosclerosis and Cardiovascular Disease (CVD). PlaqueTec is nearing completion of its device development and is about to commence its Biomarker Discovery Program. Joe Corrigan, head of the device research programme at PlaqueTec, will present an overview of the state of the art in CVD diagnosis and the background to the PlaqueTec device.
