Using diamonds to reach pressures hundreds of times higher than at the bottom of the ocean an magnets to reach just a fraction above absolute zero temperature, we can see some quite surprising phenomena. This talk takes a look at some of the ways we explore the quantum world in solid materials under extreme conditions.
