‘Computational Approaches to Maximising the Quantity and Quality of Biological Information Obtained from Mass Spectrometry Based Experiments’
- 👤 Speaker: Dr Conrad Bessant, Bioinformatics Group, Cranfield University, UK
- 📅 Date & Time: Friday 16 July 2010, 12:00 - 13:00
- 📍 Venue: Sanger Seminar Room, Biochemistry Department
Abstract
Appropriate data analysis strategies are essential if meaningful biological information is to be extracted from the torrent of data provided by modern mass spectrometry methods. This seminar will provide an overview of some of the algorithms and software tools that Cranfield Bioinformatics Group has developed in this area. These include solutions for the identification and quantitation of peptides and proteins from high throughput LC-MS/MS experiments, robust biomarker discovery, and evidence-based experimental design. Outstanding challenges will be highlighted and future plans for tackling these discussed.
Series This talk is part of the ‘Computational Approaches to Maximising the Quantity and Quality of Biological Information Obtained from Mass Spectrometry Based Experiments’ series.
