The Political Ecology Research Group will be hosting a launch event for The New Routledge Handbook of Political Ecology on April 27th, 5-6.30pm in The Manatee Room, David Attenborough Building. The Handbook is a landmark volume in the field, and it charts important new shifts in how political ecology is theorised and practised.

We are lucky enough to have two of the editors joining us, Dr Jessica Hope and Dr Elia Apostolopoulou, who will introduce the Handbook to the audience. We will then have three discussants sharing their thoughts on the volume. First Professor Melissa Leach, Executive Director of the Cambridge Conservation Initiative, and member of the Department of Anthropology, will share her perspective. Melissaโ€™s work has been influential in the field for many years, and we are excited to have her join us. We will then hear from Dr Victoria Maguire-Rajpaul, Angia Ruskin, an ECR whose work, which engages strongly in decolonial and academic activist perspectives, underlines many of the new directions the field is taking. Lastly, we will be hearing from Dr Kapil Yadav, Royal Holloway. Kapil has contributed a chapter to the volume, and will talk about his experience as a young scholar in the field. We will then have an extended audience discussion, which all are encouraged to partake in!
