Note unusual day - Wednesday - and start time - 7.45pm In an illustrated talk, Jim tells the fascinating stories from his book of the people whose revolutionary ideas made the countryside we know today. The way land is farmed, nature protected and decisions made are as different now compared to the Edwardian era as a bicycle is to a jet aircraft. There was no National Farmers Union, no CPRE , the National Trust and RSPB were tiny and owned little or no land. But in the 20th Century there were revolutions in farming, who owned land, the way development was controlled and the place of nature in the countryside.
