GSTW04 - Random and arithmetic models in spectral theory

To celebrate the May 12 Initiative — which marks Maryam Mirzakhani’s birthday and highlights her mathematical contributions — we will screen Secrets of the Surface: The Mathematical Vision of Maryam Mirzakhani. The documentary presents her work on Riemann surfaces and moduli spaces, tracing her path from her early years to becoming the first woman to receive the Fields Medal.   The screening will take place during the Random and Arithmetic Models in Spectral Theory workshop. One of the main themes of the workshop is on “random” hyperbolic surfaces, and many of the key developments in this area stem from the breakthrough contributions of Maryam Mirzakhani.   You can view the preview of the film here, produced by Zala Films.

This talk is part of the Isaac Newton Institute Seminar Series series.
