The production of a top–quark pair in association with a jet is a key process for precision studies of the Standard Model and an important background in searches for new physics. Achieving reliable predictions requires full control over two-loop amplitudes depending on six kinematic invariants. In this talk, I will present NNLO predictions for the cross section and differential distributions of this process, obtained using newly computed leading-colour two-loop matrix elements. I will discuss the derivation of the double-virtual contributions and the analytic derivation of the finite remainder in terms of a set of special functions, evaluated through direct numerical integration of their differential equations.
