This is an introductory talk reviewing numerical Calabi-Yau metrics based on our early work starting from our 2020 work. As this talk is open to interested Part III students this talk will be elementary rather than reviewing the latest developments in the field. This talk will highlight the challenges for this application in comparison to other PDE solvers based on neural networks.

This talk is part of the DAMTP Data Intensive Science Seminar series.
