The problem of determining the extreme off-diagonal Ramsey numbers R(3,k) has seen steady progress over the past century, with many of the advances introducing important new tools to the field. In this talk, I will survey this progress and discuss some recent developments on the problem. This talk is based on joint work with Marcelo Campos, Marcus Michelen, and Julian Sahasrabudhe.
