Laura Poppick’s debut book, Strata: Stories from Deep Time, explores four pivotal moments in Earth’s deep geologic past, and how the field of stratigraphy has helped decode those events. Join her in a presentation about the genesis of the book and the value of studying and communicating Earth’s geologic history. There will be time for a Q&A with the audience. Poppick’s writing on science and the environment has appeared in the New York Times, Smithsonian, Scientific American, Wired, and elsewhere. She has been a finalist for the Science in Society Journalism Award and the Maine Literary Awards. She lives in Maine.
