In this Dynamics Lunch discussion, I will discuss the evidence we have for, and dynamical causes of Earth’s early cometary bombardment. I will then discuss how the scattering of comets might differ in a general exoplanetary context, driven by differences in both planetary architecture and stellar mass. I will finish with discussion of recent work investigating the delivery of prebiotic feedstock molecules during Earth’s early cometary bombardment, which has been suggested to play an important role in the origins of life on Earth.
