OGGW01 - Discrete and profinite groups We discuss the profinite rigidity of surface groups among a large family of two-dimensional groups. This family includes, for instance, one-relator groups and hyperbolic limit groups. Our proof combines techniques from group cohomology and L^2-invariants. This is joint work with Andrei Jaikin.
