If you have a question about this talk, please contact nobody. BIDW01 - The Physics and Mathematics of Boundaries, Impurities, and Defects We discuss the interplay between extended operators (i.e. defects) and symmetries, anomalies, and renormalization group flows in quantum field theory. We also give some examples in lattice models. We emphasize defects in gapless systems, namely defects in conformal field theories.
