MHMW02 - Modern History of Mathematics: Looking Ahead

Starting from a period that has been discussed in the Brill-Noether-translation workshops, esp. the fact that spaces curves do not figure in the report by Brill and Noether, the talk will set out on a sequence of events, which give a surprising, political twist to the way in which the nascent algebraic geometry of the 19th century had to be rewritten into current mathematics.

This talk is part of the Isaac Newton Institute Seminar Series series.
