MHMW02 - Modern History of Mathematics: Looking Ahead My talk will draw from key insights from the 2022 article co-authored with Thomas Morel, which offered a (partial and subjective) assessment of recent historiography in the history of mathematics. In particular, it would explore the benefits of a “mix of genres” (“mélange des genres”) in historical of mathematics—that is, integrating the history of mathematics with other historiographical approaches, such as the history of science, gender studies, etc. Recent works in the history of mathematics demonstrate the value of such blending of historical approaches, enriching our understanding of mathematical practices and their broader cultural and social contexts.
