Abstract
I will motivate and lay out some methods and a research agenda for examining and explaining the situatedness of modern and contemporary mathematics, together with their scales and interconnections. Recent seemingly-global mathematics is a recent, contingent, and precarious phenomenon whose historicization requires new approaches and insights. My research team is currently working on these challenges through a UKRI -funded project Situating International and Global Mathematics, https://sigma.mathsworlds.org.
