If you have a question about this talk, please contact lme36. This workshop will consider recent debates around the ethics of longtermism and human extinction and their role within the field of Existential Risk Studies. Each talk will provide a deep and engage reflection on common positions within the field and the debates that surround them, calling for a richer, more sophisticated discourse about the possible reasons for caring about human extinction and giving (or not giving) it priority over other pressing global challenges. Each session will be split between a short talk and question and answer session, with a closing round table discussion. Some papers will be pre-circulated before the session to all registered attendees. Speakers: Alex McLaughlin, Matthew Rendall, SJ Beard.
