Dr Vanessa van den Boogaard, who has spent a considerable amount of time researching the politics of taxation in an African context, will be presenting her book project “Informal revenue generation and the state in Sierra Leone”. Vanessa is a Research Fellow at the International Centre for Tax and Development and at the Institute of Development Studies (University of Sussex) and a Senior Research Associate at the Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy (University of Toronto). Her research specialises in the politics of taxation and informal institutions, the political economy of development, and conflict and state building. As ever, Cambridge Tax Discussion Group meetings are open to all. No expertise in or prior knowledge of taxation is required. This talk is part of the Cambridge Tax Discussion Group series.
