Schizophrenia is a complex psychiatric disorder characterised by altered perceptions of reality and thought disorder. Lots of hypotheses exist as to what is really causing it, but no one is actually certain. Here we take a brief tour of schizophrenia’s chequered past, it’s status today, and a potentially brighter future. We’ll also ask – why on earth look at the pituitary gland??
