MESW02 - Electricity systems of the future: incentives, regulation and analysis for efficient investment The presentation will examine the history of US Independent System Operator (ISO) markets, mistakes that were made and corrected, how they are regulated, and how theoretical sustainable economic efficiency can be achieved. In addition, we examine how efficient transmission planning in theory is achieved and the problems associated with implementing it. Lastly, we will address the critical role optimization software and approximations must play to achieve these objectives. This talk is part of the Isaac Newton Institute Seminar Series series.
