If you have a question about this talk, please contact Anna Vilalta . Women have made significant contributions to science from the earliest times, and yet they face significant barriers to succeed in their careers. Although women account for the majority of the bachelor degrees in sciences in the Western countries, each step up the ladder of the scientific research system sees a drop in female participation until, at the highest echelons of scientific research and decision-making, there are very few women left. We would like to invite you to this event in which extremely talented and inspiring scientist women will showcase their work and reflect on gender inequality in science and what we can learn from the past to fight it and improve the future. To mark ‘International Day of Women and Girls in Science’(11th Feb) this seminar will focus on career development on the varied range of women scientists are involved in and the role of gender within research and science. There will be an opportunity to network and ask questions during a FREE cheese and wine reception after the seminar.
