DESCRIPTION:Several unconventional superconductors with non-s wave symmetr
y are known in the rare earth and uranium compounds with f-electrons. Howe
ver\, no superconductivity has been reported in the transuranium\nneptuniu
m compounds in the past. Here we report the first observation of the super
conductivity in the new heavy fermion compound NpPd5Al2. Novel superconduc
ting phenomena\, such as high superconducting transition temperature (Tc=5
K)\, strong paramagnetic effect\, large and highly anisotropic values of t
he upper critical field Hc2\, and first-order phase transition at Hc2 were
found. The d-wave superconductivity with point nodes is most likely reali
 zed in NpPd5Al2.\n
